Getting Ready
« on: December 30, 2013, 01:42:45 PM »
We're getting excited for the first club sponsored ride of 2014.....the Original NEWLBVR Hot Dog Ride on Saturday, January 11th! Things are looking good for the ride this year, doesn't seem that we will have to cancel for lack of snow this time! We've got enough to ride right now and with the temps being so cold, the snow ain't going anywhere soon. By January 11th, we may even get a little more to top it off. That would be nice.

We will meet at Green Acres (Hwy Z in Beecher, 7 miles east of Hwy 141). The bar will open about 9 am for those wanting a Bloody Mary or needing to use the facilities. We will pull the ropes at 10 am. Premix will lead us out into the woods to a warm bon fire where we'll cook some dogs and roast some marshmallows, drink some root beer and shoot the breeze. The hot dogs & fixings, root beer and marshmallows will be furnished. You'll have to furnish your own breeze  >:D  You may bring your own choice of trail beverages.

After enough of that round the fire thing, we'll trail ride back to Green Acres where there will be food and beverages available for you to purchase. We recommend the homemade pizzas!  :thumb: We'll have a few games and prizes so get the old iron ready to rumble. You don't want to win the dead sled award or the crutches.....what did happen to those crutches anyway!?    :dunno:

The ride is about 15-20 miles total and it's a good chance to try out this winter's project and work the bugs out. It's a family affair, everyone welcome, kids and adults, new riders, old riders, members and non-members. For more information, please post on the forum or email Premix (Pat) at vintagepats@yahoo.com.

Once we get these holidays out of the way (hope yours were happy!).....it's time to RIDE! See you there on January 11th!

Re: Getting Ready & A Current Trail Report!
« Reply #1 on: January 01, 2014, 12:15:35 PM »
The trails really need some snow to freshen things up. We're hoping for more snow. Less Cold! Here is the Marinette County snowmobile trail report for 12/31/13, information submitted by each club. This could help you plan where to ride etc. Visit www.marinettecosnowtrails.com all winter for current and accurate trail condition reporting.

MARINETTE COUNTY TRAIL REPORT    Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Dun-Good Riders: Trails are open and groomed. We still have the 3-4 inch base and received about 4 inches of snow in the last week. We continue to groom and rate the trails at good to very good. The Dun-Good trails are open for snowmobiles, ATV's and UTV's.

Pemenee River Riders The trails are open for snowmobiles, ATV's & UTV's. Good trail conditions with a solid base and a little fresh snow. Trails are being groomed. NOTE: The Aurora-Niagara trail section is temporarily closed.

Iron Snowshoe:  All of the Iron Snowshoe trails are open and we are grooming. Conditions are fair to good. Trails on the north and the west side seem to be the best. Happy New Year to everyone and safe riding! The Iron Snowshoe trails are open to snowmobiles, ATV's and UTV's.

Near North Trail Riders of Athelstane: All of the Near North trails are groomed. Good riding conditions. A little snow would help! Near North trails are open for snowmobiles, ATV's & UTV's.

Kumalong Sno Riders:  Trails are open and groomed but in poor condition. In some areas you must ride around the corn still in the fields. The trail is marked. Please follow the signs. ATV's and UTV's are not allowed on the Kumalong trail system at anytime. Trails are for snowmobiles only.

River Road Riders: Some of the River Road Riders trails in the Crivitz and Wausaukee area are open. CAUTION: early season riding conditions. River Road Rider trails south and east remain closed at this time as some landowners are bow hunting and some fields have standing corn. The remaining trails will open as soon as available. River Road Riders trails are for snowmobiles only. ATV's & UTV's are not allowed at any time.

Ranger City Riders:
Trail system is partially groomed. The "East Trail" is not groomed yet, but the whole trail system will be groomed by Monday night. Trails are fair for early season, but we need more snow. The trail from  "Big O's" (County C) to Wausaukee is closed due to hunting! There is a signed detour on Pike River Road and Lubka Road due to hunting. Follow the signs!

Bagley-Brazeau Joyriders:
The trails are in fair to poor condition. Trails are poor from White Potato Lake to Klondike due to the open fields. From Kelly Lake, to the north into Marinette County, the trail is rated fair.  Some areas still have corn in the fields, please follow the trail around these areas. We will be grooming on Thursday (1/2) and Friday (1/3). Trails need more snow. ATV's & UTV's are not allowed on the Bagley-Brazeau trails at anytime. (Bagley Brazeau is an Oconto County club, but they do have trails that come into Marinette County also. They are members of the County Alliance as well so we are glad to include them in our county reports!)

I just came back from a 165 mile ride covering the northwest-western portion of Marinette County. Yes...more snow would be nice, :dunno: but don't let that stop you. :baseballbat: THE TRAILS ARE VERY NICE AND SMOOOOTH!!! :rocker:
