The Cat
« on: December 25, 2010, 10:12:31 PM »
Well, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.  The cat sputtered and died while out with the kids, got it back to the shed, fired it up, backfired about three times and died. Haven't been able to start it sense. Wife is not happy with the balls run staring us in the face.  :madwife: Tear into her tomorrow night, I'm thinking stuck carbs but will know more once I pull the plugs and check for spark, fuel, yada yada.

On another note, we going to have enough snow to ride this year?

Hello T-Bone & QTip. Hope you & your family are having a great holiday season (except for the Cat problems of course!) We have good snow around here, Lena too. The trails are being groomed and so far so good. Temps are mild, mid to high 20's so it would be great to ride right now. But in Wisconsin anything can happen by then! We'll keep hoping for good snow this year, that's all we can do  :clapping:

You could keep your eye on the conditions around here by checking the reports the clubs post on the Wisconsin travel site, www.TravelWisconsin.com Just click on snowmobiling and then it'll show a list of counties and each one has a report. The Marinette clubs update weekly on Mondays. I think the Lena area is the same.

Our first NEWLBVR ride is January 15th and so far it's looking real good for that! Take care have a Happy New Year and don't be too stressed about those Cats! If that doesn't work out, you could get a Polaris!  :thumb:

Looks like it is the wiring harness from the CDI to the external coil. Wiggle the wires, get a little spark but nothing consistant. Start it it runs a bit backfires and dies. So I needs me some parts. Got a month to get them here and get it together and hope it holds. Wife is happier now that a diagnosis has been made, and it's a fairly easy fix. Wishing you all a very merry holiday season.  See you in about a month.

I want a polaris, would be a nice addition. Be something to take out my frustrations on....  :baseballbat:  ha ha

Okay, im officially an idiot when it comes to electrical. I'm thinking I have a short somewhere that's causing my problems. The backfire is coming out the mag side carb. Stator, coil, CDI?????? Just a bad wire somewhere. Please oh Please help a poor Dakota boy out here before I off myself. How do you track down electrical demons without just replacing everything.

T-Bone out.....

Well, I sat down and looked at it, had a beer. Stood up to get another beer and looked a little more. Started thinking about the KISS principle, you know keep it simple stupid. Had another beer. Pulled a few wires and cleaned the connectors up. More beer. Bolted/spliced/plugged it all back together. AND it runs like a top. I guess the beer fixed it. Ha Ha

See you in a month. T-Bone out

Yeah, going to go for a long drive this afternoon to see if it acts up again. If so might have to feed it a few more beers.  :beers:  ha ha

It might have a problem, I'm not one to judge
