I picked up a another Yamaha at the Balls Beater Run at Ray's a month ago. Its a SW 396, It the same model sled (the first sled) my dad bought brand new in fall of 1970. That is pretty much why I couldn't pass this sled up. There is a lot of childhood memories that goes with this sled. I was only 8 years old at the time. So this one is all about sentimental value.
And the bonus is it is a running sled in relatively good survivor condition. I spent the last couple of weeks disassembling it to clean it up. I put on a different track and drive sprocket. Discovered motor had a blown head gasket on one of the cylinders. Had to replace the fuel tank, plastic was cracked beyond repair.

to Del Robinhorst for setting me up with just the right fuel tank for the model sled. Lots of other small issues.
As of today, I believe this sled is trail ready. However we unfortunetly just ran out of winter. Oh well, unless we get that one last snow fall I guess it'll have to wait until next season.
I plan to do a full restoration on this sled sometime. But I have other sled projects I will want
