2013-2014 Repoman Pinches
« on: September 11, 2013, 11:04:16 AM »
Greetings Vintage Sled Heads!

The first meeting of the season is comming soon.  I thought I'd put in my $37.64  for the schedule of Pinches  for the upcomming season ( my 2 cents is worth $37.64.  Stay thirsty my frineds  :rocker:):

SUNDAY,SUNDAY, SUNDAY - January 12th  Pembine-Auroura Pinch.  Leave Diane's Pop-a-Top & travel to the C & R Bar in Aurora for lunch then back.  48 miles +/-

SUNDAY,SUNDAY,SUNDAY- January 26th  Florence- Spread Eagle Pine Barrens Pinch.  Leave the city parking lot in Florence, WI  and travel through the Pine Barrens Nature Area to the Chuck Wagon in Spread Eagle for lunch, then Cruise the grade back to Florence 32 miles +/-

SATURDAY, Feb 8th  Aurora to Pembine- the Silver Dollar Saloon for the Peminee River Riders Brat Fry, then back to the C & R in Aurora  48 +/- miles

If there was enough interest, I would be willing to do a Michigan Pinch again.  The ride requires a Michigan Trail sticker  ($45.00) so it's not  what I would call  "low buck"  But if you do the one time $50.00 Michigan life time registratin/trail sticker for a sled 30 years old or older, it pays off over time   :D

Is there going to be an Old Iron Display & Ride in Laona this season?  If anyone knows,  post it for the schedule.  That event was always a blast!

I'm sure there are other traditional events to be put on the schedule:  Balls Beater Ride & Show, Dunn-Good Brat Fry Ride, Hot Dog  Ride & Cook out, etc.  It's time to speak up and claim your event date for the year so  the calendar of events can be published.

There should be no excuses from the "Couch Potato's" for not having enough lead time to schedule sled time!!  Remenber we are the North East Wisconsin Chapter of the  Low Buck Vintage  RIDERS Snomobile Club.

See you on the trails

Repoman   :rocker:

Remember folks, dates & times are subject to schedule changes and trail conditions.  Always, always, always check the forum for updates and changes as the time approaches for events so you have the most current info.   :thumb:

Thanks for the info Repoman. We're working on the events and we have several suggestions for new things to do.  :cheer:   That's what we'll discuss at the meeting and get set up shortly afterwards. There may be conflicts with events and that will need to be worked out. That's what we're doing and what we're going to do more of before we put out the Claendar of Events. We'd like to get things in place before we publish the events. There is no shortage of things to do and we do have suggestions for fun club events that would be new this year to help us celebrate our 10th Anniversary. We'll have more info after Sept 18th. There will be answers to your questions after the meeting, Repoman.

Greetings Vintage Sled Heads,

This afternoon I received some bad news.  :'(   Apparently some  sizable parcels of land between Pembine & Aurora have changed hands.  The new owners have cut off accesss to the existing trail and therefore, there is no trail to Aurora from Pembine at this time.  :banghead:  I've been informed that the local clubs are looking into alternatives, but there is nothing solid on the table at this time.  So the Pembine- Aurora Pinch is on hold at this time as well as the Aurora to Pembine pinch to the Pemennee River Riders Brat Fry fund raiser.  The Spread Eagle pinch is still on.  If in fact the trail from Pembine to Aurora stays closed, I will look for alternatives for those dates.  If you have an idea, please  post it for consideration.

Later,

Repoman

Howdy Folks, I been away awhile, with a trip to Oregon, Utah, and Cali, looks like I'll be home now till next year, so anyway yes there will be a Old Iron ride Jan 18, 2014, everything should remain the same as last year, I'm hoping this year we can make the ride on the proper date, unlike last year, I'll post a flier or Recoil will most likely, Take care Spraygas.

Hey Lloyd, Its great to hear from you. I had a feeling you were likely out west. That's awesome that we are going on another "old iron ride"  :rocker: I imagine you have not had much of a chance to work on YOUR old iron, but I bet that will change now that your home! :thumb:

We got an update on this Niagara-Aurora trail situation at the County Alliance meeting on Monday night. It's being worked on, a resolve or a reroute, but to tell you the truth, it's not looking too promising at this point.

Repoman, why don't you give some thought to changing the destinations for your ride dates? That would allow us to put the definite dates and locations on the calendar and it might be good to try something else for this year. We've done these runs a few times now. Maybe change it up a little this year due to the trail thing? More folks might come out and participate if they were able to go someplace new, new trails and stops. Just a thought because I hate to tie up the few week ends we do have with "maybe/maybe not's" on the calendar.

There isn't much we can do about the trail closing, but hope the club can work with them or find some other way around. If anyone knows "someone" or can help the Pemenee River Riders with this situation, please get ahold of Tony Ziebert, Pemenee president at weluvmotox@centurytel.net

This is a bad deal for sledders & the business places affected by it, but it is the kind of thing club's with trails deal with on a regular basis. more than you realize. So next time you're out there enjoying the trails, respect the land and thank the clubs! It don't come easy!

Miss "Star" Fire,

It's ok by me if someone else has a route or ride for those dates.  Most of the other pinches I would propose would be in Michigan, (where I've done most of my riding).  I can hardly get a crew to go to Florence, so anywhere else would be even farther away, unless we double up on start & stop points already being used in other pinches.  I'll take this opportunity to officially withdraw the two Pembine based events from the calendar for this year.  I'd still like to keep the Florance-Spread Eagle pinch. Someone else can think up and run events for those other dates.

OK thanks for that info Repoman! I know it's a darn shame this stuff happens. I am trying to get the calendar of events together so if someone has an idea for a ride, please speak up! There are lots of trials to ride, miles of trails in fact so I'm betting our members can come up with some interesting stuff to do. Newsletter coming out soon, I promise. Sorry to have been so slow with it, but have been trying to work out some details and get the latest on the developing statewide news in the letter too. I guess I'll just get busy and go with what I have for now.

MEMBER ALERT: Let me know if you've got an idea for an event just bouncing around in your head. Let's talk and maybe we can make it happen! We are at no loss for things to do of course, but always welcome new suggestions. Contact Miss Star Fire or Autolube before the meeting on Wed. 10/16 if possible. Thanks!

Yes, a couple of the rides had to be canceled this year due to landowner issues but the Florence-Spread Eagle Pinch is still on for Sunday, January 26th! Read about it in Repo Man's first post here and plan to join the group for a fun ride and good company this Sunday!
