I've looked into the trail conditions and this is what I've found: Some very good, some fair, some poor and some closed
Late season riding take it or leave it.
As of Thur 2/25, Iron Snow Shoe: Some new snow, heaviest 3"-4" between Hwy C & Crooked Lake (YES!). The groomer was out Wed. night. Trail "N" north of C remains good, Trail "P&R" South of C is CLOSED for lack of snow. Trail "F" going west toward Crooked Lake is in good condition (YES!) For more info check the ISS web site. Red Arrow-Townsend reports very good conditions, grooming regularly. Watch for icy hills and corners. The 100 Miler reports good conditions and regular grooming, also be aware of icy conditions. Most clubs have web sites so you can check into the conditions for areas you're interested in.
Iron Snow Shoe has a section closed, Kumalong's trails are closed, River Road Riders are closed and all the other Marinette Cty clubs report rather poor conditions except for Dun-Good in the Dunbar-Goodman area, they are open, grooming and reporting 3"-10" icy base with some top snow, bare spots reported to the south. Conditions are just at the take what you can get stage and don't complain about it, it's all there is. It does sound like the Snow Gods want to see the old iron ride once again and showered us with a few more inches of new snow and good trails around Crooked Lake. Thank Them!
Usually 70-100 sleds show for this ride (mostly vintage) so come on out to Racer's and ride or just look over the wide variety of sleds that will be there.
