General Discussion / She ain't going to make the Balls Run
« on: January 30, 2011, 08:50:22 PM »
:banghead: Unfortunately the cat will not be making the trip this year. I am upset to say the least. Was riding today and she started smoking so bad it looked like it was coal fired. Popped the hood open and there was so much fuel shooting out the exhaust that it looked like it was peeing. Then came the dreaded knock knock knock, it sounded like the reaper was at the door. I'm pretty sure the piston on the pto side is fried, and will know what else once I tear it down. That's the bad, the good is it looks like I can rebuild it with the parts available new. That will be a summer project. Now we need to find a sled for q-tip to ride.  :dunno:

See you guys in about a week.

Just bought a 69 and 70 scorpion for 90 bucks.  The same ones I've been working on.... The 69 runs like a top and my daughter absolutely loves riding it.  She's got about 6 hours on that beast this weekend. Time for a rebuild, she wants to make it look purty. ha ha  :dancinbanana: Love that she is into the junk.

General Discussion / The Cat
« on: December 25, 2010, 10:12:31 PM »
Well, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.  The cat sputtered and died while out with the kids, got it back to the shed, fired it up, backfired about three times and died. Haven't been able to start it sense. Wife is not happy with the balls run staring us in the face.  :madwife: Tear into her tomorrow night, I'm thinking stuck carbs but will know more once I pull the plugs and check for spark, fuel, yada yada.

On another note, we going to have enough snow to ride this year?

Been out of action for awhile but since I'm up and running again thought I'd post something. Latest works are a 69 scorpion, damn thing finally runs  :rocker:.  Working on the JD 300 and the 84 liquifire. Doubt the 84 will be ready by this years beater run but maybe I'll get lucky and it will rebuild easy. Also working on an old Massy Chinook for the kids. I've decided I hate Walbro carbs, any tricks of the trade would be appreciated.  I also picked up a sno-jet cutter over the summer that will either become the "liqui-trailer" or the "Cats Tail"  haven't decided so looking for opinions.

See you in February.

General Discussion / 75 Johnson
« on: February 03, 2010, 04:08:00 PM »
:hammerhead: I feel that way right now.  Getting ready to leave for Lena, loaded the cat, no problem. Went to laod the Johnson on the trailer and I'll be damned if the drive sprockets didn't split wide open. So, now I get to spend the weekend hoping I can find a pair or cobble something together to make this sled move. Checked with sport shop and repair down in Bonduel who seems to have everything and he doesn't have them. So I'm leaving with the heap in tow hoping I can find something. If not there will be a new parts sled behind Rays shop, if that is he'll let me leave the damn thing there.

Ahhhh, isn't vintage great. Never know what's going to happen.

Two weeks from now, I'll be boozed at the boneyard.....   Once a year isn't enough. I love the lena/coleman area but unfortunately will never be able to move there.  I am looking forward to hanging out and buying a few/several/many raffle tickets for the raffle sleds.  Can't wait to see new/old friends and just relax and ride with people who truely appreciate the vintage snowmobile.  Just hope nobody gets mad about me and q-tip taking home this years raffle sled. ha ha

Looking forward to the Balls Beater Run and hope to see many of you there.  Next year Q-Tip and I are thinking about bringing out a restored 77 John deere 300 to throw into the raffle bucket. After all it all goes to a good cause.

Have fun, pray the trails are good and see yo in two weeks,  :dancinbanana:

« on: January 09, 2010, 11:08:11 AM »
Darn plastic.... Need the throttle side handle grip for the 1975 Johnson Rotary 45.  If anybody has it or knows of where an old Johnson Rotary is laying in the trees I'd appreciate the help. Be in the Lena/Coleman area in about a month for pick up.

Thanks,

General Discussion / 09-10 maiden run
« on: October 12, 2009, 09:40:12 AM »
:rocker: First ride of the year on LBVR cat is officially out of the way.  Loved hearing that cat purr but makes me realize I'm running out of time to get the Johnson ready for the Balls run.  Time to wrench/paint/sand/paint/etc.....etc.....etc.... I've already realized I'm going to have to cut some corners but will tear the Johnson down again next year to get it right  :hammerhead: Should have skipped some walleye fishing and worked this fall but the eyes were calling me.

« on: September 29, 2009, 06:24:09 PM »
Hey autolube,

Looking for the above mentioned sled.  Would like it to run for the Balls Beater Run but not entirely necessary.  Let me know what is out there and the price.  Love the looks and it was the year I was born.

Hook a fellow junk head up.

General Discussion / 1969 Mark II Scorpion
« on: February 27, 2009, 08:27:16 PM »
Small problem, starts good. Runs good but then dies.  Horrible to restart almost like it is flooding out. You can work it and keep it running when it is about to die but if it dies it's tough to start.  Plugs foul up occasionally.  It has a HR19A tilly on a 297 Sachs.

Any help would be appreciated.

General Discussion / THANK YOU!!!!
« on: February 27, 2009, 05:57:08 PM »
:rocker: Finally got some snow, eight inches today.  Son and I have been out on the Low Buck El Tigre and I must say.  Thank you Thank you Thank You.  This machine runs like a dream and has unbelievable power. I still can't believe how lucky I was that day to win this machine.  Did I say thank you.   :thankyou: :thankyou:

Gotta love it. Like I mentioned this baby will be back to Lena for the 2010 Balls run. Q-Tip thinks she is going to steal it from me, and she may be right, but it's going to be a fight.

Autolube;  Hubie is suppose to be buying me a couple tickets for the Mustang.  I'd love to call that piece of trail iron my own.  Have fun at the weekend run.  Wish I could be there.

Later,

T-Bone

I dub thee "LOW BUCK"   Need to get a decal made for the windshield, unless you all have one for sale?
