« on: January 04, 2017, 02:34:19 PM »
The trails are good....very good for the Hot Dog Ride! See "General Discussion" thread for more information. We're getting a great response for the ride! Sounds like some new riders will be joining us too. I think they'll enjoy the trails & the ride and hopefully we'll see them again! It'll be fun, but weatherman says cold & windy so bundle up and maybe put something warm in the wine sack  ;D

The trails are good....very good. The Hot Dog Ride will go on!

January 7, 2017 Trail Ride & Hot Dog Roast, 11:00 A.M. Meet at and leave from the Dun-Good Riders Club Building on Hwy 8 in Dunbar. Ride the local trails with a stop at a trail side bon fire. ATV’s & UTV’s are welcome to ride along. Contact: Pat Mullarky or 715-324-6020. 1st Club Ride of the season! Meet at the Dun-Good Riders Club Building at W11568 Hwy 8 in Dunbar and be ready to ride at 11:00 AM. There is some trailer parking available at the building but if we run out of room, there is a large Park & Ride area just west of the building on Airport Road. We’ll take a nice trial ride out into the woods on the Dun-Good trail system, some of the best groomed trails in Wisconsin, stopping along the way, somewhere, to light up a bonfire and roast some hot dogs and enjoy a beverage or two. Then it will be back on the trail to return to the building. The ride back always seems to go quicker than the ride there….hmmmm??? Around 20 miles round trip for this ride. Hot dogs & fixings will be furnished as well as some beverages, but please feel free to bring your own refreshments if you prefer. Contact Premix (Pat Mullarky) for more information, 715-324-6020 or Any changes or updates will be posted on the FB page, the forum and on the web site or give Pat a call if you need more info. Do not need to belong to the NEWLBVR or the Dun-Good Riders to come on along with us. Everyone is welcome….even those “super sleds” ATV’s & UTV’s. No vintage sled required, but why would you want to miss all that fun! The Dun-Good trails are groomed and in very good condition. This will be fun. Bundle up, might be chilly.

Club News / 4/16 News Brief
« on: April 06, 2016, 08:15:51 PM »
This news was emailed or sent US Mail to all of our members, but here is an on line version. You're welcome to share with anyone who might be interested in the club news or thinking about joining the club. Membership forms are available on the web site, go to the membership tab and print off the form or submit dues via PayPal.

Sadly, the 2015-2016 season is over. Some say it wasn't much of a season but we all have to agree, any time spent riding the trails is a good time, especially on the old iron. Always optimistic, we sledders are already looking forward to a better season next winter. Our club's business year is wrapping up as well. Our next club meeting will be on Sunday, April 17, 2016. This will be the last meeting until fall.

CLUB MEMBERS are invited to attend the club's Pizza Meeting on April 17th at the "Paris In Pembine Supper Club". Following a short business meeting, the club will treat members to some awesome pizza prepared by the friendly staff at Paris. Members are responsible for their own beverages. Paris is located at W18727 Sauld St in Pembine. It's on the west side of Hwy 141, across the tracks from the US Post Office, right in the heart of downtown Pembine. Easy to find and a fun place to gather. Hope you can join us. We ask that you RSVP no later than April 14th so Paris can set up for us. There are several ways to RSVP---on our Face Book page ( respond on the "event" listing), contact us through the forum or you may contact Patti at 715-324-6020 (, Bear at 715-889-1225, or Jeff at 715-927-5160 ( by Thursday April 14th.

In the last newsletter, I reviewed the events from this season. All of the rides went on as scheduled and everyone had a lot of fun participating. The "2nd Annual Richard Schmidt Memorial Ride" did suffer from poor trail conditions, but the poker run turned out to be a successful, raising almost $1000 for the Stephenson Fire Dept. which was down a little from last year, but all things considered, not bad. Most people participated by vehicle. The ride itself had very little participation, they didn't have many old sleds, but that is understandable with the very warm weather and "crappy" trails conditions. People didn't want to trailer a sled for 50 miles or so if they couldn't or wouldn't want to ride. Next year they will do it again on the last Saturday of February (2/25/17) and we'll hope for  better conditions. The NEWLBVR show was good, great weather brought out a lot of people, the sled raffle was very successful and we're ready to start planning the 2017 season's happenings. So if you have an idea for a ride or an event, now's the time to discuss it. Lots of vintage stuff will be going on this summer and fall. As event information becomes available, I will be posting it on the Face Book page and on the web site. I try to share information that I think our members will be interested in and I'll be adding event information beginning next week. If you have info on an event that you'd like me to share, send it to me and I'll post it. Send it anytime, it's easy to do updates.

I hope you all made it through the new antique/vintage registration process for sleds 35 years and older as well as the Trail Pass requirement for "newer" sleds without too many hassles? Remember: the Trail Pass (for "modern" sleds) is a yearly thing. You will need to purchase a Trail Pass on a yearly basis so next season we'll do it all over again. I'll send out more news about this process in fall so we can all be legal to ride. But in the meantime if you have any questions, please check because the answers to many of your questions may be found right there. The DNR web site also has a great deal of information. Contact me if you have questions regarding your memberships or AWSC issues.

Hope you all have a wonderful summer and maybe we'll see you at the meeting on Sunday, April 17th. If you have any questions please contact me (Patti) at 715-324-6020 or email

Club News / Ride on 2/27/16 is a Go!
« on: February 24, 2016, 08:01:39 PM »
Misfire here. I received this update from Lee Schmidt today. The ride is a go for the poker run so bring out the vintage! Or your modern sled. Or your car. It doesn't matter. Just be there to support the fire dept. Thanks to Iron Snow Shoe for helping with the event.

From Lee Schmidt:
"Great News, talked to Allen (president of the Iron Snow Shoe), and we are going to open the trail Saturday from the Wheel Inn to the Pines for the sled ride. Jim will groom it Friday night to try to give it the best condition he can. Al is announcing it on the Iron Snow Shoe site and Jim said he'll have Bonnie put it on the site to. I know conditions may be iffy at best, but we're gonna try. :)

Club News / 2/27/16 Richard Schmidt Memorial Ride
« on: February 22, 2016, 06:07:16 PM »
Here is the updated information I received today from Lee Schmidt about the ride scheduled for Sat. 2/27. Go in your car. Go and support the local fire department. It's a fundraiser for them, snow or no snow.

"Just to let you know this event will happen with or without snow. It is a fund raiser for the town of Stephenson fire dept and I'm still looking for all the contributions I can muster for them. I know mother nature is not doing us any favors ( currently the trails south of Cty Hwy C are closed ) but we still have a few days. Snowed lightly last night and snowing lightly now. We can always hope. We will go by vehicle for the poker run part of the day if we can't ride sleds.
 Thank you. Lee Schmidt"

General Discussion / 2nd Annual Richard Schmidt Memorial Ride
« on: January 25, 2016, 09:04:48 PM »
Received this update and I'm glad to share this information so you can make plans to attend the "2nd Annual Richard Schmidt Memorial Ride" on February 27th. And as Lee said, please help spread the word!

Hi, this is Lee Schmidt from Thunder Lake Lodge. We have set up our ride this year for Feb. 27th. Bar opens at 9 and ride leaves about 10:30. This years ride will be similar to last years. It will again be a fund raiser for the town of Stephenson fire dept. Our 2nd annual memorial ride for my father, Richard Schmidt, who was so instrumental in getting better fire protection in the Thunder Lake area. There is a $10 entry fee for each person and we will make it a poker run. Books will be provided, stops at the Wheel Inn, Shoreline, and the Pines, back to Thunder Lake for 5th stamp. Cards will be distributed with best hand winning half the pot, the rest going to the fire dept. There also will be raffle drawings and a 50/50 drawing. I personally am going to donate  $.50 for every long neck bottle of beer sold that day. We'll have $3 bloodys, $2.50 brats and hamburgers. And of course, everyone is welcome. Can participate with old sled, new sled, car, or on foot, LOL.  :thumb:

Thank You,
please spread the word and try to make it!

General Discussion / YES! HOT DOG RIDE IS A GO!!!
« on: January 04, 2016, 09:53:22 AM »
YES! You read that right! The annual "Hot Dog Ride" scheduled for this coming Saturday (January 9th) is a go!  :dancinbanana:

We have enough snow on the Dun-Good trails to make this an enjoyable outing. Trails are being groomed this week and you know the Dun-Good Riders trails can be great when other trails aren't so good. They do take good care of their trails! Things are looking good for the ride. This may be the first snowmobile ride for many of us this year. It's not a long ride out to the bon fire and there'll be hot dogs to roast over the fire. Hot dogs & fixings will be provided. Bring your own trail safe beverages.

Riders will meet at the Dun-Good Riders Club Building and leave from there at 11:00 AM. The building is located at W11568 Hwy 8, right in Dunbar. There is parking there and gas is available right down the street. This is family friendly ride so bring the gang along. Not much snow in the forecast and the temps look to remain fairly mild. We're looking forward to seeing everyone again and to kick off the club's riding season on January 9th. If you need more info, post your question here or send an email to Premix (Pat) at

And by the way...Winter ATV-UTV use IS ALLOWED on the trails we'll be on. So if you prefer to bring your atv or utv, or if you have a friend who'd like to ride along with theirs, all are welcome! And any age of sled is allowed, doesn't have to be vintage.

The updated Marinette County trail report has been posted on the Home Page of our web site. The report, along with additional information, can be found at, on our Face Book page and on the County Alliance Face Book page. The Dun-Good Riders Face Book page posted "Pictures From The Groomer", actual trail pictures taken late last night while grooming the trails. Pictures are worth a 1000 words. Happy New Year to All!

General Discussion / Greetings!

General Discussion / Need Donations!
« on: November 19, 2015, 11:49:40 AM »
If you've been to past shows you know how we have raffles taking place inside the Gateway. We've always been very fortunate to receive so many nice items to raffle off. Thank You for that! If you would like to donate items for the raffles this year, please bring them inside the Gateway early on Saturday morning so we will have time to organize the items. If you don't have an item to donate, please ask one of your favorite business places to donate something, they are usually willing to do so and glad to support the club, label the item as to who donated it and drop it off inside the Gateway at the raffle table. Your help and generosity is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please call me or email Thanks much.

Club News / Pay Club Dues at Show!
« on: November 17, 2015, 03:43:45 PM »
Remember what I told you about how we were going to change how we collect the dues? WELL.......I've changed my mind  ;DNotice to ALL Members! You will be able to pay (renew) your club dues at the Show & Swap on 12/5/15, the same as you have done in the past!  :thumb:

I know most of you are accustomed to paying your dues at the Show and we will continue with that tradition again this year. I apologize for making a suggestion regarding the dues that upon further review, won't work  as I thought it might. So we are back to collecting dues a the Show. I don't want any of you to have your AWSC membership lapse so you'd be disqualified from getting the discounted trail pass (for your "modern-super sleds"). Sleds 35 years and older do NOT need a Trail Pass. They must, however, be properly registered. I do ask that everyone fill out a membership form when paying your dues at the Show. Also, please give me your email address (PRINTED CLEARLY!) so you can get updates and news as quickly as possible. It's saves us a lot of money on postage too. Thanks Much!

General Discussion / Vintage/Antique Registration Updates! Good News!
« on: November 09, 2015, 07:49:05 PM »
There is some good news to share today! We're happy to say that AB434 passed the Assembly last Tuesday (93-0). It did go onto the Senate and it did pass late on Friday afternoon (32-0). What does this mean for you as a snowmobiler? Read on......

As most of you know, the new registration system for snowmobiles in WI went into effect on July 1, 2015, requiring all sleds to be registered and to display an additional Trail Pass. Discounted trail passes available to those who belong to clubs and the AWSC.

There were also some new regulations regarding sleds that are 35 years and older (vintage-antique) that went into effect. As time moved on and the new system began working, there were some questions and concerns regarding all of this. This bill was introduced as a "clean up bill' an will help make the new system work even better. What this means is:

1) It eliminates the need for antique snowmobiles (35 years and older) to display a trail pass.....NO Trail Pass required on sleds 35 years and older.

2) It allows a dealer to put a trail pass with the dealer plate and move it from sled to sled, without having to put a trail pass sticker on the windshield.

3) It allows for operating a snowmobile with a temporary receipt until the trail pass stickers arrive in the mail. ***THIS WILL ONLY APPLY TO THE $30 TRAIL PASSES SOLD BY THE DNR. IT WILL NOT APPLY TO THE $10 DISCOUNTED TRAIL PASS SOLD TO CLUB MEMBERS THROUGH THE AWSC***

4) It will allow non-residents to register their snowmobiles (35 years and older) as antiques. The same as a resident of Wisconsin.

So....There you have it! Many thanks to the people who worked to get this bill written up and into the system so it could be voted on. As you can see by the vote count, the lawmakers didn't seem to have much problem with it. If you need more info, please check the AWSC web site or contact Marinette County AWSC Director Jeff at or Marinette County AWSC Rep, Patti at or send us a Face Book message or post your question on the page. We'll try to help and maybe we'll all learn something in the process.
