General Discussion / Pictures from the show
« on: December 12, 2012, 02:22:49 AM »
I added the show pictures to the front page of the site. If anybody has more photos, please e-mail them to me.

After a while, I'll move the pictures to a different part of the site, but for now I thought people might enjoy them where they're noticable.

General Discussion / Coming Web Site Changes
« on: December 07, 2011, 10:11:05 PM »
Soon, the NEWLBVR web site will undergo major changes. The site will be revamped, allowing certain people to log in and update the site.

When will all this happen? Not sure yet, but probably in a week or two. I need to do a little research first and make sure I can make the site work like I want.

I will make an effort to keep the forum running during this time. You can get to the forum directly by going to http://www.newlowbuckvintageriders.com/forum

There's a possibility that the forum will get wrecked in the process though. If that happens, I'll have backups of it and I'll get it up and running as soon as possible.

General Discussion / ATTACHMENTS
« on: February 01, 2011, 09:17:02 PM »
I had to make some changes to the attachment settings. I have increased the space allowed for attachments three times so far, and just had to do it again. I don't want to run out of space and have to delete older pictures - I would like to keep them all. I want you guys to be able to post pictures - that's what the forum is for!

Anyway, I increased the total storage space for attachments. BUT, I also adjusted the attachment size down a bit to keep the storage from filling up so fast.  Better image software will let you resize a picture, but it will also allow you to COMPRESS a picture. Compression reduces the file size without shrinking the picture. It does this at the expense of quality. The good news is that on the Internet, you can't see the reduction in quality.

Here's the scoop:
Attachments must be 128KB or smaller.
Size is limited to 800x800 pixels.
You may have up to five attachments in a single post, but the total file size must be below 512KB

An alternative is to use a hosting site like www.photobucket.com, or www.flickr.com

If you need help with getting pictures posted, please let me know. mark.mullarky@mbswi.com

Thanks,
Mark

General Discussion / Super Sled
« on: January 05, 2011, 06:59:29 PM »
Going out to put 120 studs in my Super Sled. Unfortunately, I found out my Super Sled is not that super anymore. They try looking stuff up on the computer, and have to pull out the book instead. Ah well, it still seems new to me.

General Discussion / Some would-be members of the site
« on: March 17, 2010, 12:34:37 AM »
I know the process to get signed up here is kind of a pain, but just to give you some idea why we do this...

I just denied two member requests. A trace of their IP addresses shows me that one is from Latvia and the other was from Romania. We used to get a lot of attempts to sign up from Germany. Most of these clowns are banned automatically, but once in a while one will slip through. It would be nice to think that we have interested vintage snowmobilers all over the world, but sadly that's not the case. These guys want to sell Viagra, or distribute porn. Some of them might have a large sum of money they want to send you.

That, in a nutshell, is why every member gets manually reviewed and approved.

General Discussion / How to post pictures
« on: January 25, 2009, 06:45:11 PM »
This forum will allow members to post pictures. They need to be JPG or GIF files, and must be less than 128kb in size. If you took a picture with a digital camera, it will probably have to be shrunken to get under 128kb and fit on the computer screen. You can post up to 4 pictures in each posting.

In some cases, you will get a smaller thumbnail image in the message. If you click on it, you'll see the full-size image.
