Title: WI Vinatge Registration Info
Post by: Premix on November 06, 2014, 10:40:27 AM
Hello to All! Miss Star Fire here! Newsletters will be arriving in member's mailboxes within the next day or 2. I'm "licking the stamps" as you read this......like anyone does that anymore  :hammerhead:

The following information about VINTAGE / ANTIQUE REGISTRATION is copied from the newsletter, the one that's on it's way to all club members. We want to share it here on the Forum so all of our visitors can read it and be informed. And then we welcome your comments & questions. It's all good and I think you're going to like it!  Let this thread be the place to discuss the great new program for registering our vintage sleds. Everyone can benefit from the exchange of information and it's all here in one central spot. We're thinking this will be more helpful and time effective than taking phone calls and emails and answering questions individually. Club President and Marinette County AWSC Director Jeff (aka Auto Lube) will be answering your questions. He also chairs the AWSC's "Vintage & Antique Committee" so he has lots of background on this topic. The Forum topics may be viewed by the public but only registered forum members may post. It's easy as pie. So get yourself a nice sled related user name and follow the easy directions to become an approved Forum member. We don't even ask for your real name and we'll approve you as quickly as possible. Then watch your email inbox for notification that you were approved. And post away! Just remember this is a Family friendly forum so keep it PG!
:thankyou:

"When you're getting your sleds and winter gear ready, be sure your registration is current. Exciting changes are coming to the way we register snowmobiles in Wisconsin. And there are good changes that will impact our vintage sled registration as well. Those changes are in effect right NOW. Wisconsin Act 233 went into effect immediately when the bill was signed. If your vintage sled registration comes due this year, your renewal notice included a WIDNR letter explaining the process. Registrations can be done, as always, online thru the DNR web site or by sending the paperwork and your payment thru the US Mail. Current antique changes are:
•   Sleds 35 years and older may be registered as antique - registration stickers will say "Antique" (The 35 year requirement progresses. For example: 2014, 1979 and older; 2015, 1980 and older; 2016, 1981 and older, etc.)
•   The cost of the registration is $20.00 for 2 years.
•   Renewals will be $5.00 for 2 years for as long as you own the sled. Registration is not transferable.
•   The snowmobile program will receive a gas tax allowance from 50 gallons on all antiques ($23.95 per year).
•   The WIDNR has determined the antique registration is not available for non-residents.
We know many of you will have questions and we'll try to answer all of them. Please post your questions and comments on the Forum portion of our web site, www.newlowbuckvintageriders.com We can all learn and benefit from the information exchange on the Forum rather than individual inquiries from everyone, many of you asking the same questions. If you're not registered to post on the forum, please follow the easy directions to do so. We'll approve you as quickly as possible. The forum is open to viewing by the public but only registered members may post. In the meantime, you may go to www.awsc.org or check your copy of the Wisconsin Snowmobile News for general information or contact your county AWSC director or rep."
